We’re proud to be supporting Volunteers Week 2018 and here at the Mansion we know first-hand what a wonderful contribution volunteers make to an organisation.
We have 12 of our own who play a big part in helping run the Mansion, and we can’t thank them enough for all their wonderful work.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and often come in and help out on short notice. As well as welcoming visitors to the Mansion, running our gift shop, assisting with school visits and the day-to-day running of the Mansion, they also get stuck into helping out with our bigger events.
All our volunteers also possess a wealth of knowledge, enabling them to give visitors an interesting and historical insight into the Mansion’s past.
Lynn Hammond, is one of our newest volunteers and encourages more people to get involved in volunteering.

Speaking of her role at the Mansion, Lynn said: “I’m really enjoying it. I did it to widen my volunteering experience but have also ended up meeting and working alongside some fantastic people along the way!
“That’s the great thing about being a volunteer; you get to meet many different types of people. Valentines Mansion was a natural fit for me as I have a keen interest in local history. I’ve really enjoyed learning about the Mansion’s past.
“Many of our visitors are also local so they have equally fascinating stories about the area. It’s a very engaging role. I’d encourage everyone to consider a volunteering role, whether it’s at the Mansion, or for a cause they are passionate about.”
Since February 2018 our volunteers have committed to a total of nearly 500 hours between them to the Mansion.
