A visit to Valentines just got even more interesting! Our aviary is now open daily from 11am and it’s well worth a visit.
Situated in the kitchen garden (opposite the Gardener’s Cottage Cafe), the aviary houses some interesting and colourful species:
Crested Bengalese Finch: gregarious, peaceful, calm birds native to Asia with a squeaky sounding song.
Yellow Canary: Canaries are very lively birds that have been kept domestically for many years. Miners used to take them into caves to test for proper oxygenation in the shafts.
Hecks Grass Finch: this bird originates from Australia. They are not fussy eaters, and love brocolli, cress, apple and small amounts of lettuce!
Open daily from 11am, the aviary is a fantastic new attraction for visitors – make sure you stop by!
