Dating back to 1696, Valentines Mansion is a Grade II listed building set in the north of Valentines Park in Ilford, Essex. Originally built as the residence of Elizabeth Titllotson, the widow of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Mansion has had a succession of owners and residents, some of whom are still thought to occupy the Mansion today.
There have been many reports of spooky sightings at the Mansion, and we’re now giving you the chance to explore the house in the dead of the night and find out for yourself whether the ghosts of Valentines really do exist.
Previous investigations and even workers in the Mansion have reported the disturbing sounds of babies crying coming from the top floor of the Mansion. Historical records show a lady named Evelyn Young was housed at Valentines Mansion during 1921. Mrs Young gave birth to twin babies and tragically become very depressed and smothered her new-borns.
The sounds of heavy footsteps along the corridors have been experienced by security staff working alone in the 300 year old building on many occasions and there have even been sightings of figures roaming the corridors; Could this be the ghost of Clementina Ingleby who is reported to have attempted suicide several times at Valentines during the 1800’s?
